Brendan Rodgers: No offers for Liverpool defender Daniel Agger

AggerLiverpool boss Brendan Rodgers insists that there have been no offers for Liverpool defender Daniel Agger.

The Dane sat out the 4-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund with a knee problem, and has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Anfield.

According to numerous reports Agger has asked Rodgers if he can leave the club this summer with concerns he won’t get first team football.

But Rodgers said: “I saw some stories on Agger, but we haven’t had any enquiries. Daniel is still getting some work done on his knee. He’s been unfortunate since the tour of America, but we haven’t had anything, no offers.”

Brendan Rodgers has also revealed that new 20million signing Lazar Markovic could be fit for Liverpool’s opening fixture against Southampton this Sunday.

He said: “Hopefully, Lazar will be available. If not for Sunday, certainly for the next week. He’s had a slight problem with his tendon, but he’s up to speed, working with the sports science team and looking very strong. And if he just misses out next week, he’ll certainly be available for the next game.”

Liverpool 4-0 Borussia Dortmund-Player Ratings: Reds send warning to rivals with 4-0 rout

Goalkeepers

Simon Mignolet  6.8

Mignolet did not have one save to make all game in what was a comfortable day for the Reds defence. The Belgium looked composed with his feet, making some good long balls forward.

Defenders

Javier Manquillo   7.7

Manquillo was making his debut at Anfield, but it did not show. The young Spanish star looked comfortable on the ball going forward, making some surging runs forward, but also made some decisive challenges at the back for Liverpool. Manquillo would have impressed Rodgers with this showing and has put in a challenge to start in the league opener against Southampton.

Martin Skrtel     7.3

Skrtel had a very comfortable day in the heart of defence, but showed that his partnership with new signing Lovren could be key for Liverpool this season. Skrtel won everything in the air and has earned a start next week after his pre-season form and for being Liverpool’s best defender last season.

Dejan Lovren     8.6

The new 20million signing proved what he can give Liverpool this season after an impressive debut. Scored the Reds second goal with a powerful header and also played a part in the first goal with a great pass for Coutinho to flick it on to Sturridge. The Croatian showed real composure on the ball and leadership at the back, making a number of great tackles at the same time. Got a great cross field pass, very similar range to Steven Gerrard surprisingly, and could prove a threat in an attacking sense as well.

Glen Johnson     7.5

Johnson has drawn a lot of criticism for his performances lately, but today was much more of a composed performance at left-back for Johnson. Galloped forward well and proved a threat to the opponents, but also did his defensive duties well at the other end.

Martin Kelly       6.5

Kelly did not have long to make an impression on the game but is far down the pecking order at the moment with Johnson, Flanagan and Manquillo all ahead of him. Needs to up his game if he is to have a future at Liverpool, but has not impressed too much this pre-season.

Jose Enrique     6.7

Enrique is gaining fitness with every game he plays but he could have some real competition in the shape off Alberto Moreno if he signs this week. The Spaniard will prove to be a valuable player this season, even if he doesn’t play every week.

Midfielders

Jordan Henderson   8.0

Henderson has proved this pre-season and last season how important of a player he has become to Liverpool. His energy levels are unmatched and he could easily play 90 minutes every day, such is his fitness. Scored the Reds fourth goal with a tap-in but has proved in pre-season he could score more goals this season. Henderson is one of the first names on the team sheet and that has proved how far he has come, thanks to his attitude.

Emre Can         6.7

Can has impressed a lot of people during pre-season with his strength and speed, but today he could not get involved in the game as he would have liked. Can needed to do more to put his name on the team sheet next week, but is still in for a shot to start.

Steven Gerrard     7.8

Gerrard is proving to be very consistent in his new position and rarely has a bad game now. The Liverpool skipper controlled the tempo of the game, with Dortmund unable to deal with the passing range of Gerrard.

Lucas Leiva       6.9

Came on for Emre Can in the second half and did a good job in protecting the back four. Lucas could not get into the game in an attacking sense which is why Rodgers would prefer to play Allen, Lallana. Coutinho or Can in that position as Lucas is too defensive. The Brazilian has a knack of giving away stupid fouls in bad areas, something he needs to cut out of his game.

Raheem Sterling   8.2

Sterling produced yet another impressive display with Dortmund unable to handle his pace. The 19-year old could be a big player for Liverpool this season and is starting to produce more goals and create chances for other players. Sterling seems to have improved on his defensive skills after tracking back to help out Johnson well, and showed unbelievable strength for such a small lad.

Coutinho           8.8- Man Of The Match

Coutinho pulled the strings for Liverpool today with everything Liverpool produced came through the young Brazilian. Scored the third goals of the game with a neat finish, something he needs to work on still, but what was more impressive was the flick to Sturridge to open the scoring. Coutinho has been described by Rodgers as the ‘brain of the team’ and that was proven with this performance.

'Brains of the team' Coutinho pulled the strings in midfield

Jordan Ibe       6.5

Ibe came on at a time where there was a number of substitutions that affected the game. Could not get involved in the game while he was on the pitch but this could still be the 17-year-olds breakthrough season this year.

Strikers

Daniel Sturridge   8.4

With their being so much talk about replacing Luis Suarez Liverpool already have the perfect player to fill the Uruguayans boots. A delightful outside of the foot finish for the first goal of the game and a wonderful piece of skill and pass to find Henderson for the Reds fourth goal proved he could step up even more this season. If Sturridge can stay fit all season then he will be the man to get the goals that Liverpool need.

We hope to see this celebration plenty more times during the season

We hope to see this celebration plenty more times during the season

Rickie Lambert     6.3

Lambert came on late in the game but once again another uninspired display by the Englishman. With Lambert struggling at the moment Liverpool are in the market for another striker to partner Sturridge or be back up and Lambert does not fit the bill. Good player to have on the bench but would not inspire confidence in Liverpool fans if he were to start for Liverpool this season.

Daniel Agger wanted by London clubs Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham

AggerLiverpool defender Daniel Agger is wanted by a number of London clubs after deciding he wants to leave Liverpool.

Agger is believed to want to leave Liverpool due to the fact he wants first team football, with Liverpool signing Lovren for 20million, Agger appears to be even further down the pecking order at Liverpool.

Arsenal are in the market for a new centre-back after selling Vermaelen to Barcelona for 15million and they see Agger as a cheap option to fill the void.

Tottenham will be keen on the defender if they fail to sign Mateo Musacchio from Villarreal, while West Ham are believed to be interested as he fits there price range at 10million.

Liverpool would prefer to sell Agger abroad rather than to potential rivals Arsenal and Tottenham this season.

Transfer Rumours: Alberto Moreno set to finally sign on Tuesday after making last appearance for Seville in Supercup final against Real Madrid

MorenoAccording to reports Alberto Moreno looks set to make his final appearance for Seville in the Supercup final against Real Madrid in Cardiff on Tuesday.

Liverpool will pay around 16million for Moreno, with youngster Suso potentially going to Seville on another season long loan spell in Spain.

Europa league winners Seville want Moreno to say his goodbyes to the fans in the showpiece final.

Only then will the deal be completed, after a drawn out transfer saga that saw the deal collapse twice.

Alberto Moreno would finally offer Liverpool a top draw left-back, having played Jon Flanagan out of position for the majority of the season, which has been a problematic area for Liverpool for a number of years.

Transfer Rumours: Edinson Cavani’s agent confirms Liverpool after star striker

cavaniLiverpool have been offered a glimmer of hope in the pursuit to sign Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani from PSG.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is a huge admirer of Cavani and the star’s agent confirmed that Liverpool have made an inquiry earlier this summer as they look to replace 75million Luis Suarez.

The PSG forward will command huge wages and a big money transfer, after the big spending French champions spent 55million on Cavani just last summer.

Cavani’s agent Claudio Annelluci has stated that there are offers from Premier League duo Liverpool and Arsenal on the table.

“There was much interest in the player during the past six months. I can confirm that Cavani has heard proposals from Liverpool and Arsenal,” he said.

“He would love to play in England, but has not yet made a final decision. He is not interested in money and fame, he just wants to be happy playing football.”

Cavani has stated that he is happy at PSG, but the French club are willing to sell him this summer if the right offer comes in. Chelsea and Manchester United are also interested and this will increase the price of the player.

That has prompted Liverpool to look elsewhere, with Rodgers making an enquiry into the availability of Falcao.

The player though is keen on a move to Real Madrid this summer to link up with former teammate James Rodriguez, who joined Madrid earlier in the summer.

Liverpool will be encouraged by the fact that the 27-year-old would rather play for a team that suits his style, rather than playing for cash.

Transfer Rumours: Liverpool in talks to sign Radamel Falcao from Monaco

FalcaoAccording to numerous reports, Liverpool have joined Manchester City and Real Madrid in the battle to sign Columbian striker Radamel Falcao from AS Monaco.

Liverpool look light in the centre-forward department having only brought in 4million Rickie Lambert in that position, with Divock Origi going back to Lille on loan.

Italian journalist Mina Rzouki states that Liverpool are leading the race for the 28-year-old and talks have took place in Italy over signing Falcao.

Italian reports claim Falcao is available to loan out with a view to buying the season after, which would suit Liverpool having spent big already.

Manchester City have been heavily linked over the summer with a potential deal for Falcao seeing Stevan Jovetic going the other way.

Fresh reports though claim that Liverpool are leading the race for Falcao, who missed the World Cup through injury.

Daniel Agger has had a heart-to-heart with manager Brendan Rodgers about leaving Liverpool

Agger former clubLiverpool vice-captain Daniel Agger has had a tearful heart to heart with manger Brendan Rodgers about wanting to leave the club he has spent 8 years of his career at.

The 29-year-old made his emotional request during the Reds recent pre-season tour of America.

Agger is now reportedly set to be sold, with Barcelona leading the chase for the Dane.

Agger made just 23 appearances for Liverpool last season and fears he is facing a losing battle to get back into the first team picture, with Liverpool adding 20million Dejan Lovren to their already packed defence.

Agger was given permission to leave the tour by manager Brendan Rodgers, although the stated reason was through injury.

The centre-back clearly loves Liverpool, as shown with getting YNWA tattooed on his knuckles weeks after signing a new deal in 2012.

As things stand Agger is not in Rodgers first team plans next season and Liverpool would be willing to listen to offers of around 12million.

No doubt a legend for Liverpool and as loyal as a player gets but maybe its the right time for Agger to depart. What do you think of the news?
