Derby County 0-3 Liverpool: Player ratings

Loris Karius 7.5

Karius made his Liverpool debut and looked a very confident goalkeeper. He had a couple of dodgy moments with his feet at times but nothing overly concerning, the German bailed out Henderson’s poor error when Karius was quick out of his area to clear the danger. Constantly on his toes and with our high pressing game he could be the goalkeeper we need.

Karius could of put himself in contention for the game with Hull after a good game here.

Karius could of put himself in contention for the game with Hull after a good game here.

Nathaniel Clyne 7.3

Clyne never really seems to get a rest, he plays nearly every game and is always consistent. We are so thin in this area it’s unreal but we only play a game a week this overall this season so its not a massive concern. Clyne got forward well and helped out in attacks as he normally does but his end product on the final ball could improve at times.

Joel Matip 7.2

Matip put in another really composed game tonight and looked so dominant whenever Derby got forward. That’s four good performances in a row now and if he continues he could prove to be bargain of the summer as he arrived on a free transfer. Looks good with any partner to, tonight he played with Klaven and he has also played next to Lucas and Lovren in recent games with Matip impressing in all of them.

Ragnar Klaven 7.3

Klaven made his comeback from a small injury tonight and performances like this will continue to push Mamadou Sakho further down the pecking order. Got his first goal for Liverpool with a neat finish where he had to sort his feet out and he looked comfortable at the back all game.

Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool: Player Ratings

Simon Mignolet – 7.2

Mignolet didn’t have a awful lot of saves to have to do, but he looked solid and controlled his six yard box comfortably. The Belgium has had a good start to the season so let’s hope it continues.

Nathaniel Clyne – 8.1

Clyne was up against in my opinion the best winger in the league on his day in Eden Hazard and he did extremely well to shackle Hazard who had a poor game overall. Clyne seems to be building a good connection with Sadio Mane on the right hand side with Clyne helping out in attack and Mane coming back to help defend.

Joel Matip – 8.3

Matip continued his strong run of form and he looks like he has been at Liverpool for years, comfortable on the ball, dominant in the air and strong in the tackle. Did extremely well all game and shackled Diego Costa extremely well. Made a slight error when he went to ground to early in the box and this lead to Chelsea getting a goal back but there were countless other errors in this goal.

Dejan Lovren – 8.4

Got his first Premier league goal for Liverpool and to boot he had a impressive game at the back for us. Lovren’s goal was a fine finish from a superb Coutinho cross into the box. The Croatian is building a good relationship with Matip at the back and this can only improve over time.

James Milner – 8.2

I didn’t personally think that Milner could play left back but he’s been fantastic in our last three games, gets forward extremely well and helps out Coutinho but its his defensive work where he has impressed me most. Coutinho doesn’t track back a awful lot so Milner has to do a lot of defending on his own and he’s been holding his own in recent games, another fantastic performance as he stifled Willian extremely well on his side.

Adam Lallana – 7.6

Another good game for Lallana, albeit he was less effective today than in other games. Lallana worked extremely hard and ran around 12 kilometres once again, heckled Chelsea when they had possession and distributed the ball well when he had it.

Jordan Henderson – 8.6 Man of the match

Wow, that goal probably would of won him this award anyway but a great performance to boot to for our skipper. He probably will never score a better goal than that as our Gerrard would have been proud of that himself. He’s adapting to playing as a number six really well as he has great balance to his game, he knows when to run and when to hold his position. Henderson really looked like a captain tonight, he was leading by the front foot and was shouting in the middle of the park, he really is proving the doubters wrong right now.

Georgina Wijinaldum – 8.3

I said this in the game with Leicester but this is his game in a Liverpool shirt so far, I didn’t think he was such a work horse but boy did he put in a shift in for this game as he looked absolutely knackered when he came off as a late substitution. Goals will come for the Dutch international if he carries on playing like this.

Phillipe Coutinho – 7.9

Coutinho wasn’t involved in the game to much, especially in the second half but he still proved he is a difference maker with a beautiful ball to the back post for Lovren to smartly finish. Liverpool were sat deep for most of the second half so Coutinho understandably couldn’t get fully into it and he was substituted later on for Lucas.

Daniel Sturridge – 7.1

Sturridge was probably our least effective player on the park today, even in the first half when we were brilliant. He showed composure on the ball and a willingness to run but just struggled. Was taken off for Origi really early in the second half and he looked like he was injured but Klopp confirmed that he wasn’t and it was a tactical approach as Sturridge looked extremely tired, maybe a lack of match fitness.

Sadio Mane – 8.1

Mane was his normal busy self, turning and running at their backline constantly but was impressed me with his game today was his defensive work. Countless times he came back to help out Clyne nullify the threat of Hazard as he put in a selfless display. Red fans now have a chant for Mane and this shows just how quickly fans have recognized his talents.

Substitutions

Origi 55 (Sturridge) – 6.7

Origi struggled when he came on to be honest, we were sat extremely deep so Origi had no support with him up top as he constantly lost the ball. Had a huge chance to make it 3-1 after a good cross from Milner but Origi couldn’t convert from 8 yards as begovic made a great save to deny what should of been a goal.

Lucas 74 (Coutinho) – 7.0

Came on and his job was to protect the back four which he did extremely well as he really helped calm the game down when he came on. Gave away a silly foul on Hazard just outside the box and if that gone in he would be criticized but overall he did well.

Steward 89 (Wijaldum) – N/A

Played about four minutes so really can’t give a rating.

Dominant young Reds stroll to victory – Liverpool 5 – 0 Fleetwood town

Liverpool strolled to victory over Fleetwood town as Gruic, Woodburn, Lucas and two goals from Firmino secured our second preseason win in a row.

First half team

Karius – 6.0

Just like in the 1-0 win over Tranmere Rovers another very assured performance but really not at all tested. Looks good with his feet and his delivery also looks to be a improvement on Mignolets. We need to see how he is at shot stopping and decision making to fully judge him, the upcoming games later on in preseason should test him.

Jon Flanagan – 6.2

Flanagan is easing himself back and hopefully gets a full preseason behind him, tonight he didn’t put a foot wrong and got forward quite a lot. Wasn’t tested massively defensively where he is better so a easy night for the scouse fullback.

Joel Matip – 6.5

Fleetwood didn’t impose themselves on the game so Matip has another game to comfortably bed into the side. Looks like he is extremely composed on the ball as he wasn’t frightened to take a couple of risks he is capable off. Defensively he handled everything but won’t be his most stressful game in a Liverpool shirt.

Dejan Lovren – 6.5

A very similar performance to Matip as these two look like they are building the basis of their relationship on the pitch as they both should start against Arsenal on the opening day. Composed on the ball and defensively sound but wasn’t tested.

Alberto Moreno – 7.5

With no pressure on him defensively he thrives, Fleetwood sat back and didn’t offer a lot going forward so Moreno could do what he does best and he just attacked. Overlapped Mane on the left hand side constantly and troubled their right back for 45 minutes. Got the assist for Grujic after a fantastic ball into the box and was creative as normal. If he can improve defensively he would be a massive player for Liverpool in the future.

Liverpool 4-3 Borussia Dortmund(5-4 Liverpool agg) – One of the greatest European games in history as Liverpool perform heroic comeback

Mignolet – 7.1

Mignolet could not do anything for any of the goals, but made a great save to deny Augabamayang but the ball fell to Mkhitiaryan for a tap in. Composed throughout the night as he keeps up his steady performances recently.

Nathaniel Clyne – 6.7

Clyne was up against one of the best wingers in the world in Marco Reus and struggled to deal with Reus’s runs at times in the game, as proved when he was out of position for Reus to make the score 3-1 after Hummel’s great pass. Grew into the game though and was a good outlet on the right hand side.

Mamadou Sakho – 7.2

A dreadful start to the game for both central defenders as Dortmund took a early 2-0 lead, Sakho was extremely out of position for Dormund’s second goal as he couldn’t intercept the pass, but he made a heroic tackle to deny Augabamayang from scoring and making it 3-0. Showed great guts to carry on going through the game and made some crucial interceptions and tackles, as well as making the score 3-3 on the night after drifting into acres of space in the Dortmund penalty box but he took his header well and kept it low, really becoming a Kop fan favourite right now.

Liverpool 4-1 Stoke City: Player ratings – Reds run riot as Klopp rings the changes

Simon Mignolet – 7.3

Mignolet has looked a lot more assured recently and put in another good display here. Couldn’t do anything for the goal but did make one outstanding save to prevent another set play goal to be conceded.

Nathaniel Clyne – 7.0

Clyne had another good performance and has become a beacon of consistency for Liverpool this season. Defended solidly and provided a good outlet down the right.

Martin Skrtel – 6.6

A much more assured performance from the Slovakian international after his shambolic display against Southampton the last time he played. Gave away the free kick which lead to Stoke’s equaliser, but this was a much better performance from Skrtel.

Kolo Toure – 6.5

Had a couple of shaky moments at the back but overall had a good game. Toure has had a good season and whenever he has had the chance to step up he has put in good performances consistently.

Alberto Moreno – 8.1

Moreno’s good form continues as he was solid defensively all game and scored a cracker of a goal, which has been coming for him this season. Provided a great asset down the left hand side and was always running the flank.

Europa league quarter final first leg – Liverpool vs Borussia Dortmund – Player Ratings

Simon Mignolet – 7.2

Mignolet had one outstanding save to make which was to deny Marco Reus in the first half, but other than this save the rest he had to make were simple shots which he handled well. He handled set pieces well by punching and catching them, but there were two heart in mouth moments when he turned Aubameyang not once but twice which was risky.

Nathaniel Clyne – 6.4

Not Clyne’s best game in a red shirt but he was solid. He got forward on the right giving us a outlet on the right hand side when lallana cut inside but he was caught out of position a couple of times and gave the ball away needlessly at times. May not have been his best game but even then he is solid.

Dejan Lovren – 8.5

I found it difficult to pick who was better out of Lovren and Sakho in this game but I will give it Lovren as he was calmer at the back and he lead the back four excellently. Made a crucial block to deny Aubameyang in the first half and he has been a revelation since Klopp took over.

Lovren's impressive stats vs Dormund

Lovren’s impressive stats vs Dormund

Mamadou Sakho – 8.3

Sakho and Lovren are building a very good partnership at the back now and Klopp clearly now knows his best back four. Sakho had a torrid time in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham at the weekend but he made up for it here. If Sakho can add more consistency to his game he can potentially be a world class centre back for us as when he’s on his game he wins everything but then he has games like the ones he had against Tottenham and Watford, but he has been consistently fantastic in the Europa League.

Sakho's impressive stats vs Dortmund

Sakho’s impressive stats vs Dortmund

Alberto Moreno – 7.6

One of Moreno’s best games in a Red shirt, not for the attacking prowess he holds but for some solid defending which is something you don’t say too much about Moreno. He used his speed to cut out a lot of moments and provided an outlet with Coutinho on the left hand side where them two have built a good understanding of each other.

Emre Can – 6.9

Got booked unfortunately very early but that did not stop him from putting in some crucial tackles. Certainly not his best game for us but he worked tirelessly and won a lot of tackles that a lot of players wouldn’t make if they were on a yellow card so early on. Didn’t do an awful lot in the final third but he was crucial in our own half.

Jordan Henderson – 6.3

This could potentially be the last time that we see Henderson in a Liverpool shirt this season as he got a potentially serious knee injury in the first half. He hasn’t been the same player since picking up that heel injury which he has been playing through all season. He put in the work in the first half but lacked any kind of quality in the first half but did get the assist for the crucial Divock Origi away goal after a clever layoff.

James Milner – 7.8

Milner had a really good game and worked tirelessly all game proving what a good free transfer he has been. He did lose the ball a lot in the first half but just his work rate trumped that. He became the captain for the second half and helped calm things down when Dortmund scored so early in the second half.

Adam Lallana – 6.8

Lallana didn’t show the best of his attacking game in yesterday’s game but he did have a couple of neat turns and touches. He worked his socks off though as he normally does and was just the player we needed for a game like this where work rate was so vital.

Phillipe Coutinho – 7.3

Had another good game as his recent sparking form continues, he was denied scoring by two good saves from Weidenfeller and Coutinho helped out Moreno a lot to defend on the left flank. He has built up a good understanding with Moreno and it has really helped Coutinho that we have two strikers who like to run in behind in Sturridge and Origi.

Divock Origi – 8.6 MOTM

Eyebrows were raised when the Young Belgium was selected over Daniel Sturridge, but Origi took this opportunity splendidly. This was more of a tactical change from Klopp as he fancied Origi’s raw pace, workrate and strength over Sturridges finishing prowess. On another day Origi could of had a hattrick today, he led the line brilliantly as he brought our midfielders into play with his holdup play and then he has the other aspect of his game which is the pace which we exploited as we looked to play balls over the top of their two cbs. He took his goal fantastically, albeit it caught a deflection but he should of had a second on the stroke of half time as he missed a glorious one on one opportunity which he put straight at the goalkeeper.

Origi celebrates against Dortmund

Origi celebrates against Dortmund

Subs

Joe Allen 6.7 (Jordan Henderson 45)

Joe Allen came on at half time and just slotted in seamlessly, he won a lot of tackles and just his pressing caused Dortmund to give the ball away a lot. He could get a lot more game time coming up with Lucas still injured, Henderson possibly injured for a while and Can suspended for the next two Premier League games.

Roberto Firmino 6.2 (Adam Lallana 78)

Firmino was always likely to not make this match due to the thigh injury he picked up which made him miss the international break and our game with Tottenham. He pressed well when he came on but expect him to start in a week’s time at Anfield.

Daniel Sturridge 6.1 (Divock Origi 84)

It was a surprise to a lot of people that Sturridge was dropped for such a big game but Klopp fancied a fully rested Origi and his workrate. He had one fantastic run when he came on as he took the ball passed two Drotmund players but it came to nothing. Expect Sturridge to start against Stoke at the weekend but after this performance by Origi and Sturridge’s recent performances expect Origi to start in a week’s time again.

Liverpool 4-0 Borussia Dortmund-Player Ratings: Reds send warning to rivals with 4-0 rout

Goalkeepers

Simon Mignolet  6.8

Mignolet did not have one save to make all game in what was a comfortable day for the Reds defence. The Belgium looked composed with his feet, making some good long balls forward.

Defenders

Javier Manquillo   7.7

Manquillo was making his debut at Anfield, but it did not show. The young Spanish star looked comfortable on the ball going forward, making some surging runs forward, but also made some decisive challenges at the back for Liverpool. Manquillo would have impressed Rodgers with this showing and has put in a challenge to start in the league opener against Southampton.

Manquillo impresses on Liverpool debut

Manquillo impresses on Liverpool debut

Martin Skrtel     7.3

Skrtel had a very comfortable day in the heart of defence, but showed that his partnership with new signing Lovren could be key for Liverpool this season. Skrtel won everything in the air and has earned a start next week after his pre-season form and for being Liverpool’s best defender last season.

Dejan Lovren     8.6

The new 20million signing proved what he can give Liverpool this season after an impressive debut. Scored the Reds second goal with a powerful header and also played a part in the first goal with a great pass for Coutinho to flick it on to Sturridge. The Croatian showed real composure on the ball and leadership at the back, making a number of great tackles at the same time. Got a great cross field pass, very similar range to Steven Gerrard surprisingly, and could prove a threat in an attacking sense as well.

Lovren celebrates scoring on debut

Lovren celebrates scoring on debut

Glen Johnson     7.5

Johnson has drawn a lot of criticism for his performances lately, but today was much more of a composed performance at left-back for Johnson. Galloped forward well and proved a threat to the opponents, but also did his defensive duties well at the other end.

Martin Kelly       6.5

Kelly did not have long to make an impression on the game but is far down the pecking order at the moment with Johnson, Flanagan and Manquillo all ahead of him. Needs to up his game if he is to have a future at Liverpool, but has not impressed too much this pre-season.

Jose Enrique     6.7

Enrique is gaining fitness with every game he plays but he could have some real competition in the shape off Alberto Moreno if he signs this week. The Spaniard will prove to be a valuable player this season, even if he doesn’t play every week.

Midfielders

Jordan Henderson   8.0

Henderson has proved this pre-season and last season how important of a player he has become to Liverpool. His energy levels are unmatched and he could easily play 90 minutes every day, such is his fitness. Scored the Reds fourth goal with a tap-in but has proved in pre-season he could score more goals this season. Henderson is one of the first names on the team sheet and that has proved how far he has come, thanks to his attitude.

Emre Can         6.7

Can has impressed a lot of people during pre-season with his strength and speed, but today he could not get involved in the game as he would have liked. Can needed to do more to put his name on the team sheet next week, but is still in for a shot to start.

Steven Gerrard     7.8

Gerrard is proving to be very consistent in his new position and rarely has a bad game now. The Liverpool skipper controlled the tempo of the game, with Dortmund unable to deal with the passing range of Gerrard.

Lucas Leiva       6.9

Came on for Emre Can in the second half and did a good job in protecting the back four. Lucas could not get into the game in an attacking sense which is why Rodgers would prefer to play Allen, Lallana. Coutinho or Can in that position as Lucas is too defensive. The Brazilian has a knack of giving away stupid fouls in bad areas, something he needs to cut out of his game.

Raheem Sterling   8.2

Sterling produced yet another impressive display with Dortmund unable to handle his pace. The 19-year old could be a big player for Liverpool this season and is starting to produce more goals and create chances for other players. Sterling seems to have improved on his defensive skills after tracking back to help out Johnson well, and showed unbelievable strength for such a small lad.

Raheem Sterling catches the eye again after impressive game

Raheem Sterling catches the eye again after impressive game

Coutinho           8.8- Man Of The Match

Coutinho pulled the strings for Liverpool today with everything Liverpool produced came through the young Brazilian. Scored the third goals of the game with a neat finish, something he needs to work on still, but what was more impressive was the flick to Sturridge to open the scoring. Coutinho has been described by Rodgers as the ‘brain of the team’ and that was proven with this performance.

'Brains of the team' Coutinho pulled the strings in midfield

‘Brains of the team’ Coutinho pulled the strings in midfield

Jordan Ibe       6.5

Ibe came on at a time where there was a number of substitutions that affected the game. Could not get involved in the game while he was on the pitch but this could still be the 17-year-olds breakthrough season this year.

Strikers

Daniel Sturridge   8.4

With their being so much talk about replacing Luis Suarez Liverpool already have the perfect player to fill the Uruguayans boots. A delightful outside of the foot finish for the first goal of the game and a wonderful piece of skill and pass to find Henderson for the Reds fourth goal proved he could step up even more this season. If Sturridge can stay fit all season then he will be the man to get the goals that Liverpool need.

We hope to see this celebration plenty more times during the season

We hope to see this celebration plenty more times during the season

Rickie Lambert     6.3

Lambert came on late in the game but once again another uninspired display by the Englishman. With Lambert struggling at the moment Liverpool are in the market for another striker to partner Sturridge or be back up and Lambert does not fit the bill. Good player to have on the bench but would not inspire confidence in Liverpool fans if he were to start for Liverpool this season.

Liverpool 1-0 Olympiacos-Player Ratings-Liverpool claim narrow first win in International Champions Cup

Goalkeepers

Brad Jones   7.2

Did not put a foot wrong in goal for Liverpool, although he did not have a lot to do. Looked comfortable for set pieces and made a important save in the last couple of minutes to deny Olympiacos a goal.

Defenders

Glen Johnson   5.9

Johnson was Liverpool’s worst defender on the pitch. He constantly gave the ball away in dangerous areas and would not get back down the pitch for his defensive duties when going forward. Johnson did nothing to please Liverpool fans who want Johnson out of the team for the coming season.

Martin Kelly   6.2

Looked comfortable at the back and passed the ball very well while in danger. Got forward a couple of times, but looks more assured in his defensive job. Kelly performed better than Johnson when he was on the pitch, making Liverpool a lot tighter at the back.

Martin Skrtel     8.8-Man Of The Match

Skrtel was superb at the back for Liverpool today and showed manager Brendan Rodgers that he remains Liverpool’s best defender. Skrtel made a number of key interceptions in the game to stop certain goals and looked comfortable while on the ball. Skrtel was dominant in the air winning every header, proving that Lovren should partner Skrtel at the back for Liverpool this season.

Skrtel was impressive at the back

Skrtel was impressive at the back

Kolo Toure       7.3

Toure Came under fire a lot from Liverpool fans last season after a number of costly errors, but put in a comfortable showing for Liverpool in this game. Toure is currently Liverpool fifth choice defender showing they have a vast number of defensive options if needed.

Sebastion Coates   7.0

Coates put in another comfortable showing for Liverpool but it currently way behind in the pecking order for the Reds. Looked solid in the air and showed he is a solid defender that could put him in the shop window for clubs that are interested.

Jose Enrique     7.2

Enrique looks to have recovered from the injury that plagued him last season after another impressive first half showing here. Made some critical interceptions and tackles and got forward when he needed to.

Jack Robinson   6.7

Robinson got forward a number of times but lacks a final ball that will make him a better player, which will hopefully come with experience. Comfortable in defence but was vulnerable when he galloped forward too many times.

Midfielders

Steven Gerrard   8.1

Gerrard showed all of his experience in this game and does not look like he needs pre-season to prepare himself for the coming season. Controlled the tempo of the Liverpool play and made a delightful pass to Sturridge in the build-up to the goal. Made some great tackles and passes in the game and showed why he is such an important player to Liverpool for the coming season.

Gerrard controlled the tempo of Liverpool's play

Gerrard controlled the tempo of Liverpool’s play

Emre Can     7.4

Can only played 45 minutes but looked impressive during the time he was on the pitch. Can showed he’s got good pace and strength to succeed in the Premier League.

Emre Can did not look out of place in Liverpool first team

Emre Can did not look out of place in Liverpool first team

Jordan Henderson     7.8

Henderson played the full 90 minutes and showed what an engine he has. Ran all day and showed great link-up play with his fellow midfield players and forwards. Henderson will be a key player for Liverpool this season with his engine and work effort being pivotal to the Liverpool cause.

Lucas Leiva         6.3

Lucas has a point to prove to Rodgers to prove he should be in Liverpool’s first team plans, but on the basis of this performance Liverpool have better options. Gave away a number of needless free-kicks, which he consistently does, and did not look good on the ball.

Joe Allen           6.2

Allen had a very similar performance to Lucas and ultimately failed to impress once again. Allen gave away the ball a number of times, with one of them very nearly costly. The Welshman could not get his passing together and ended a number of Liverpool attacks.

Lazar Markovic   7.5

Markovic made an impressive debut and gave glimpses of what he is about. Markovic was at his best when running at defenders and had a decent chance but curled it over the bar. The Serbian showed Rodgers he could be a key player this season after showing good signs here.

Markovic looked lively on debut

Markovic looked lively on debut

Raheem Sterling   8.2

Sterling scored the only goal of the game and showed great instinct and finishing to get into the position and finish it off. Sterling looked lively all game and was always on the move. With the departure of Suarez then Sterling could be in for a big season this year.

Sterling scored the only goal of the game

Sterling scored the only goal of the game

Coutinho             7.4

Coutinho looked good on the ball and always looked dangerous on the ball. The Brazilian looks more dangerous when playing in a more central position but still threatened from the wing. Coutinho made a number of superb passes and linked up well with the forward players.

Jordan Ibe           6.3

Ibe did not get to many minutes to make his mark on the game but looked lively. Ibe made a number of good runs and put in Joe Allen for a great chance at the end of the game after a superb run and pass.

Forwards

Daniel Sturridge       6.8

Sturridge had a very quiet game in front of goal but showed goo link up with the midfielders. The England international scuffed a shot that deflected to Sterling for the goal but did not have the chance to get around the box as he would have liked.

Rickie Lambert   6.5

Lambert came on in the closing minutes off the game but held the ball well up front to take the pressure of the defenders.

Preston 1-2 Liverpool-Ibe stars in victory for Liverpool

Goalkeepers

Brad Jones  7.6

A good performance from Brad Jones, could not do anything about the goal. Made a number of good saves throughout the game and looked confident when collecting crosses.

Defenders

Martin Kelly 5.8

Did not look sharp for the second game in a row and lost a number of balls in the first half. He Will need to improve if he wants to impress Rodgers.

Jon Flanagan   7.2

Flanagan was Liverpool’s best defender in the first half. He looked comfortable on the ball and attacked more in his natural right-back position, when he swapped positions. Flanagan looked comfortable in defence and would have impressed Rodgers so far.

Martin Skrtel   6.2

Did not have a lot to do but was guilty of being complacent throughout the match. Skrtel looked strong in the air as normal, but did show rustiness a few times throughout the match.

Andre Wisdom 5.9

Wisdom did not have a good day and it is no surprise that Rodgers does not consider Wisdom in his first team plans. Looked weak on and off the ball and lacked pace a number of times during the game. A loan spell in the Premier League will suit Wisdom well.

Kevin Stewart    6.5

A much better appearance for Stewart as he looked more comfortable on the ball, and did not give away the ball. In the last game he gave away the ball for the goal and never looked like a player that was confident, but this was a much better run-out for the young full-back.

Sebastion Coates   6.7

Did not have a lot to do when he came on the pitch but whenever called upon he produced. He looked strong and comfortable on the ball, Coates showed that he has gotten over his injury but whether Rodgers considers him in frame for the first team is yet to be seen.

Lloyd Jones     6.5

Helped tighten things up at the back and worked well with Coates. Very comfortable but did not have a lot to do when he came on.

Jack Robinson     6.3

Did not really make an impression for himself and was replaced by Enrique later on in the game. Did not go forward many times but did look comfortable defensively.

Jose Enrique     6.8

Only made a short 20 minute appearance, but did show his quality during that time. Gave Liverpool another option going forward and looked fit and raring to go for the new season.

Midfielders

Lucas Leiva     6.6

Made some very good tackles while on the pitch, but if he is to fit into Rodgers plans then he will need to be better on the ball, as he gave away the ball a few times. Looked lively defensively and did help out the defence well.

Joe Allen       6.1

Did not look like a senior player on the pitch. Too many times he watching the play and not showing the determination he needs to. Good on the ball when the Welshman had it, but did not show determination to make his mark on the game,

Emre Can     7.1

Only played 20 minutes due to him being taken off as a precaution. During those minutes he controlled the tempo of the game and looked comfortable on and off the ball. An impressive brif appearance and if he can show this in the Premier League he could be in for a big season at Liverpool.

Can impressed despite going off early

Can impressed despite going off early

Phillipe Coutinho  7.4

Showed what he is all about and another impressive performance from the Brazilian. Showed great feet, dominant on the ball and surprisingly show better strength.

Coutinho impressed once again

Coutinho impressed once again

Jordan Ibe     9.2- Man Of The Match

A great performance again by Jordan Ibe, adding another 2 assists to his name. Great runs for both off the goals and showed real determination to get into attacking position. Got a very good pass on him, but again needs to improve his finishing as he had a great chance in the first half.

Jordan Ibe set up both goals

Connor Coady   6.9

Coady is a very good tackler of the ball and made a difference when he came on. Looked comfortable on the ball and made a few bursting runs forward, overall a good performance for Coady when he came on.

Jordan Rossiter 7.9

Made a real difference when he came on the pitch. Made some great tackles and ran the show in the midfield when he was on the pitch. Still only 18 and could have a good future at Liverpool if he can progress to the next level.

Suso   8.5

Suso impressed on the left side of midfield, scoring a great curling equalising goal. Cut inside on his left foot and looked a danger when he did. Got a good shot on him, as he showed with the goal and has an eye for goal, could be a good player for Liverpool this season.

Adam Phillips  6.5

Phillips played just the 10 minutes, so not really a lot of time to make an impact on the game. Did not have a lot of touches on the ball as Liverpool were seeing the game out when he came on.

Krisztian Adorjan   6.6

Looked comfortable on the ball and showed good link up play with Peterson. Did not see a lot of the ball but when he did he would rarely play a bad pass.

Strikers

Rickie Lambert     6.6

Lambert did not see a lot of the ball, but did show glimpses off what he can do. Will need to improve his performances if he is going to make the starting eleven and perhaps at times showed the occasion got to him.

Fabio Borini       6.1

Borini is on the verge of a move to Sunderland and this is likely to be his last appearance for Liverpool. Showed that his head was not at Liverpool and did not make an impact on the game.

Kristoffer Peterson   8.3

Peterson Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers what he is about, scoring the winning goal of the game. Scored in the loss to Brondby and showed his poachers instinct for his second Liverpool goal. Made some great runs throughout the game and showed that he links up extremely well with Jordan Ibe.

Player Ratings- Liverpool 1-2 Brondby IF : Ibe and Coutinho shine in 2-1 defeat in first pre-season game

Goalkeepers

Brad Jones             5.2

Started brightly, but was caught out for the goal where he was out of position for the long range strike and constantly got beaten at free-kicks, with the Danish side hitting the crossbar twice with Jones of his line both times and lucky not be beaten.

Danny Ward         6.5

Didn’t get too much game time as he replaced Jones late in the second half, could do nothing for the goal, but didn’t have a lot to do.

Defenders

Martin Kelly         6.0

Looked rusty and showed that he has not played much football. Brendan Rodgers will want Kelly to up his game if he is to be considered in Liverpool’s first team plans next season.

Kevin Stewart       5.0

Replaced Tiago Ilori midway through the first half, had a horrendous start where he gave the ball away for the first goal and giving the ball away in attacking positions. Replaced at half time.

Tiago Ilori               6.6

Looked assured during the 20 minutes that he played, but went off injured after appearing to pull a hamstring.

Daniel Agger         6.7

Agger returned to Denmark to face his former club and captained the Liverpool side, looked assured without looking spectacular. Showed his rustiness at times during the game.

Brad Smith           6.8

Made some very good attacking runs, but was caught out of position at the back several times. Got forward and showed he has a lot of pace, but will need to pick his moments to go forward better.

Martin Skrtel      6.9

Didn’t have a lot to do, but should have put in a tackle for the goal. Showed his strength and was very good in the air, winning most aerial balls.

Jon Flanagan       7.2

Came on in the second half and looked very sharp. Made some excellent runs going forward and showed real determination in the way he went about his work. Liverpool’s best defender on show and should start next season.

Andre Wisdom   5.8

Came on in the second half and showed why Liverpool are willing to loan him out. Did not look comfortable on the ball and was sloppy at the back. Lost the ball a number of times and did not put in a good performance to prove Rodgers wrong.

Lloyd Jones   6.0

Came on in the second half and did not have a lot to do, was partly at fault for the goal as he should have put in a tackle.

Midfielders

Lucas Leiva       6.1

One of the senior players on show at the game and looked rusty, did not get into the game and did not work hard enough.

Joe Allen           5.8

Came on in the second half and could not get into the game, looked weak on and off the ball and showed none of the performance levels he played at last season, where he replaced Coutinho at times in the season.

Jordan Rossiter     6.4

Made some good forward runs and looked lively during the game. Left out of position during the game a few times.

Joao Teixeira        7.0

Showed some very good touches and looked lively, showed good link up play with other players and needs to start making the step up now for Liverpool if he is to succeed.

Suso                       7.2

Linked up well with Coutinho and looked lively during the game, showed no rustiness and was a threat to the Brondby defence in the first half.

Phillipe Coutinho   8.8- Man Of The Match

Ran the show in the first half, everything that Liverpool created in the first half came from Coutinho. Showed no signs he was rusty and showed Rodgers what he has to offer.

Coutinho ran the show in midfield

Conor Coady         6.6

Had a steady performance without really showing Brendan Rodgers what he can do. It is rumoured Liverpool are willing to let Coady leave and he will have to perform better to convince Liverpool to keep him.

Adam Phillips         5.9

Came on in the second and did not make much impact. Could not get involved into the game and needed to keep the ball better for Liverpool to keep possession.

Krisztian Adorjan   5.9

Very similar game to Adam Phillips where he was sloppy on the ball and needed to keep it better for Liverpool to cause more problems.

Jordan Ibe           8.6

Came on for the second half and showed what he is about. Ibe has unbelievable pace and trickery and showed it to set up the Liverpool goal, with a clever dummy which the defender fell for and Ibe was clear to put the ball on a plate for goalscorer Peterson. One improvement he needs to make is his finishing which is woeful at times, but he is definitely one for the future.

Strikers

Fabio Borini       6.2

Needed to impress today but could not get involved in the game, showed rustiness and he will need to pick up the performance levels with every game if he wants to impress Rodgers.

Kristoffer Peterson     7.6

Peterson was in the ‘right place right time’ for the goal, which takes a certain skill. Looked lively during the game and linked up with Ibe well.
