Swansea are waiting to discover the fate of Liverpool’s contract talks with Joe Allen before potentially making a move if a agreement isn’t made between the player and club.
Allen has one year remaining on his Liverpool contract and no talks have yet taken place as Allen reached the Euro semi-finals with Wales after some impressive displays from the 26 year old.
Liverpool signed Allen from Swansea for a fee of 15million in 2012 when Brendan Rodgers was in charge and so far he has struggled to break into the first team under Klopp as the Welshman made just 8 premier league starts last season.
Klopp has confirmed that Liverpool will hold talks with Allen when he returns to the Reds preseason after a extended break and Klopp said he hopes they can reach a agreement when he returns.
“We will find a solution but it’s not done,” Klopp said after Liverpool’s 5-0 friendly win on Wednesday night.
“Obviously Joe Allen is a good player. We never doubted this. He played a good European Championship, like the whole Welsh team.
“We have to make decisions, we have to find solutions. We have to talk to the player, ask the player and think about our situation. That’s how it works.”
Allen was named in the official UEFA team of the tournament after a number of impressive games which helped Wales have a fantastic tournament.
Mignolet has looked a lot more assured recently and put in another good display here. Couldn’t do anything for the goal but did make one outstanding save to prevent another set play goal to be conceded.
Nathaniel Clyne – 7.0
Clyne had another good performance and has become a beacon of consistency for Liverpool this season. Defended solidly and provided a good outlet down the right.
Martin Skrtel – 6.6
A much more assured performance from the Slovakian international after his shambolic display against Southampton the last time he played. Gave away the free kick which lead to Stoke’s equaliser, but this was a much better performance from Skrtel.
Kolo Toure – 6.5
Had a couple of shaky moments at the back but overall had a good game. Toure has had a good season and whenever he has had the chance to step up he has put in good performances consistently.
Alberto Moreno – 8.1
Moreno’s good form continues as he was solid defensively all game and scored a cracker of a goal, which has been coming for him this season. Provided a great asset down the left hand side and was always running the flank.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes that midfielder Joe Allen can shine this season, having impressed in pre-season.
Liverpool signed Joe Allen from Swansea for 15million last summer but was hindered by a shoulder injury in his maiden season for the Reds.
Rodgers now feels that Allen can shine this season now that he is back to full fitness again. Liverpool now have good depth with Henderson and Allen both wanting a starting berth in the Reds side.
He said: “In the first three month of last season Joe [Allen] was our best player by a mile but he had a problem with his shoulder which curtailed his season.
“It meant he could not have that aggressive streak which is part of his game.
“Joe has been terrific over the course of pre-season and he did very well [against Olympiacos].
“It is important we have a real strong competitive group as we are trying to build the depth of the group so that I can change the team in games and when we go to play against certain teams I can change the team about.”
