Adam Lallana has transformed his Liverpool career and is becoming a key player for Liverpool

When Liverpool signed Adam Lallana back in the summer of 2014 eyebrows were raised at the 25million price tag that former boss Brendan Rodgers forked out. This was a player that had just two years experience in English footballs top flight division having played for Southampton for 8 seasons, playing in league one and the championship before Southampton were promoted to the Premier League in 2012.

Lallana was a key figure in Southampton earning back to back promotions from league one to the Premier League, he scored 8 goals in the season they were promoted to the championship from league one and scored 11 goals in the championship where they spent just the one season before reaching the so called ‘holy grail’ having fallen so far away from top level football for a number of years.

Lallana struggled to get to grips with the Premier League in the Saints first season back in the top flight and it wasn’t till the second season where he showcased his talents to the world, he scored a impressive 9 goals in the league for Southampton as they had achieved a top half of the table finish and he also got in the PFA shortlist for player of the season at the annual Premier League awards. Lallana was rewarded for his good season with a place in England’s 2014 World Cup campaign, and this prompted Liverpool to swiftly move in for him.

Jordan Henderson to miss the rest of the season

Henderson set to miss 6-8 weeks

Henderson set to miss 6-8 weeks

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson will miss the rest of the season after he sustained a knee injury in the 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund and he is also a doubt for England’s Euro 2016 campaign.

The midfielder damaged ligaments in his knee and will be out for between 6-8 weeks.

England boss Roy Hodgson has reiterated the fact that he is reluctant to take players to Euro 2016 if they are not fully match fit.

“I wouldn’t be happy to really take players with us in the hope that they will become fit during the tournament,” he has said.

Henderson has been plagued with injuries all season and is already playing through a heel injury which he picked up earlier on in the season which made him miss two months.

Henderson has made just 15 appearances in the Premier League this season, which is rare for Henderson who has barely had any injuries before this season.

This is a huge blow for Liverpool as we have a shortage of quality in the midfield, even with Henderson playing poorly this season he will be a big miss. Other players will get a opportunity though as Emre Can is set to miss the next two Premier League games through suspension, Lucas still has a injury and now Henderson is injured so Allen, Milner and Stewart will all potentially be given opportunities in this position in the next few games.

Liverpool’s Adam Lallana could be out injured for 6 weeks

Injured LallanaLiverpool have suffered a major blow to their preparations for the new season with the injury of new signing Adam Lallana, who could potentially be out for up to 6 weeks.

The England midfielder, who had signed for 23.5million from Southampton earlier in the summer, could potentially miss the first 3 games of the Barclays Premier League campaign, these games include a game against former club Southampton and two away trips to Manchester City and Tottenham.

Lallana is also likely to miss the start of England’s Euro qualifying campaign away to Switzerland. The 25-year-old was hurt during a training exercise on Thursday and Liverpool’s fears were realised following the results of the scan.

He has suffered a lateral collateral ligament damage, but does not require surgery which could have potentially put him out of action for 3 months.

Lallana was expected to make his Liverpool debut against Olympiacos on Sunday, but now may have to wait until after the season has started.

Have your say! How big a miss will Lallana be for Liverpool?

Lallana on verge of 25million move to Liverpool

LallanaLiverpool are on the brink of signing one of their top summer transfer targets this summer after agreeing a 25million fee for Adam Lallana.

The English international has had his heart set on a move to Liverpool at the end of the season, with it looking like his dream has come true after arriving at Melwood for a medical.

Liverpool had an opening bid of 20million rejected for the player and they subsequently put in a 25million bid, which was again rejected. Liverpool had struggled to agree a price as they would not budge of their own valuation of the player, and they were always wandering whether Southampton will budge of their 30million valuation for the player.

Talk of Lallana’s future was put on hold until the World Cup had finished for England, and after having been eliminated early, Liverpool have seemed to be able to tie up the deal quickly.

Liverpool are trying to complete their transfer business quickly, with the signings of Emre Can and Rickie Lambert already made to a squad that finished runners up last season.

Europe has a vendetta against Luis Suarez, claims lawyer

Bite suarezLuis Suarez’s lawyer believes that there is a European vendetta against Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, after the Uruguayan was embroiled in yet another bite storm.

FIFA has opened up disciplinary proceedings against Suarez and a verdict is set to be announced later on today.

Suarez, who has previously been found guilty of bite offences twice in the past, has played down the incident claiming ‘these things happen on the football field’.

His legal representative Alejandro Balbi went further in playing down the incident by claiming that the English and the Italian media are to blame for the situation.

“We don’t have any doubts that this has happened because it’s Suarez and secondly because Italy was eliminated,” Balbi said.

“There’s a lot of pressure from England and Italy. We’re polishing off a defence argument.”

FIFA has refused to speak about any potential punishments as off yet, though he is likely to face a lengthy ban just a year after recieiving a 10 game ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

“There is a possibility that they ban him, because there are precedents, but we’re convinced that it was an absolutely casual play, because if Chiellini can show a scratch on one shoulder, Suarez can show a bruised and almost shut eye,” Balbi added.

“If every player starts showing the injuries he suffers and they open inquiries for them, everything will be way too complicated in the future. We’re going to use all the arguments possible so that Luis gets out in the best possible way.

“You shouldn’t forget that we’re rivals of many and we can be for the organiser (hosts Brazil) in the future. This does not go against what might have happened, but there’s no doubt that Suarez is a rock in the shoe for many.”

Luis Suarez: I get no respect from English press

Suarez5Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has accused the English press off showing him no respect.

Suarez has re-opened his feud with the English media after seemingly being respected before Uruguay’s game with England.

Suarez has also said he has no regrets about his post-match comments after the game with England. Suarez had said that his two goal heroics against England were all the sweeter after “to many people laughed about my attitude”.

Asked to explain his comments, he said “you work in England, and that was in the papers. You should know what happened and I think it was nothing more than just in the papers.

“Everybody knows that I was elected the best player of the year. Even the people in the Premier League voted for me and then, if the papers vote for me as well, that is sensational.

“But what happened before the match – I did not want to attack anybody, only some media started making fun of me and you are in the media. You are in the media, you should know what happened and why they did that to me.”

Suarez has earlier been asked about his fitness before the game and he said he was suffering from exhaustion and cramp.

‘I was not really 100 per cent fit and sometimes this happens,’ he said.

‘I was the other day really at the limits of my physical capacity, as I was for the last match with Liverpool last season.

‘Last week I was full of cramps and I was tired but of course you have a certain experience and you can build yourself up and come to the next assignment and this is what I am doing.

‘I am building myself up again for the game against Italy.

Steven Gerrard on international retirement: I need more time to decide

GerrardEngland and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard says he needs more time to make a decision on his international future.

The 34-year-old has made 113 caps for England, and with England being knocked out of the World Cup after losing their first two games Gerrard has a big decision to make.

He said: “There is no truth I’ll be making any announcement on my England future in the next week. I need more time than that.

“I’m still hurting and I’m still broken from the last couple of weeks.”

England will play Costa Rica in their last game of the World Cup, after Liverpool teammate Luis Suarez’s brace condemned England to a 2-1 defeat to Uruguay to subsequently knock them out of the World Cup.

Gerrard is just short of breaking David Beckham’s all time outfield player with the most caps for England and said before the tournament that he will consider his international future after the World Cup.

But Gerrard is confident that England have a bright future ahead of them he said: “I don’t know what the plans are going forward. I do agree with what the manager has said that the talent is in the group.

“The talent is there. At the moment, it is very difficult for myself, the players, to find a lot of positives.

“When you look at the bigger picture, things can change very quickly in football.

“I think we have got world-class players and I think we’ve got players with world-class potential. But these tournaments only come around every two years. We’ll have to wait and see.”

Real Madrid to monitor Raheem Sterling

SterlingReal Madrid are considering making a move for Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling after his impressive season, but are willing to wait till next summer.

Madrid boss Carlo Ancellotti is said to be a big fan of the 19-year-old, who started England’s last two World Cup games.

According to the Sun on Sunday, Ancellotti was considering making a move this summer, but he wants to wait and see how well Sterling performs in the Champions League.

Other sources claim that Real Madrid want Sterling as a replacement for the potential departure of Angel Di Maria.

Liverpool are set to hold talks over a new contract once Sterling returns to England, putting in any doubt over his long-term future if he signs the potential 100,000-per-week contract.

Adam Lallana to push through Liverpool move after leaving Brazil early with England

LallanaSouthampton playmaker Adam Lallana will try to push through a move to Liverpool now that England have been knocked out of the World Cup early.

Roy Hodgson’s team will be returning to England after Tuesdays match with Costa Rica, having lost to both Italy and Uruguay. Lallana will reiterate to Southampton officials that he feels now is the time to leave.

Given his long association with Southampton he is reluctant to hand in a formal transfer request, but with Southampton and Liverpool struggling to agree a move then the 26-year-old may have to hand in the transfer request.

Liverpool have had a 25million bid for lallana rejected with Southampton playing hardball over their star player, with Bournemouth getting 25% of any fee that is agreed for Lallana.

Lallana does not want to leave Southampton on bad terms due to his longstanding stay there, but he believes now is the right time to move on.

Southampton are holding out for 30million from Liverpool, but the Merseyside club will be willing to let Fabio Borini go to Southampton as a makeweight for Lallana.
