Remy was expected to be announced as Liverpool’s fifth summer signing but the Reds have pulled out of the deal at the last minute.
Liverpool FC have refused to comment on the situation but it is believed that there was a problem with Remy’s medical.
Remy, who scored 14 goals while on loan at Newcastle last season, had flew to Boston to partake in a routine medical after Liverpool triggered a release clause in Remy’s contract.
Personal terms were all agreed and he was set to be given the iconic number 7 shirt, left vacant by the departure of Luis Suarez.
Anfield sources put the delay in announcing the signing due to a minor paperwork issue, but it appears that Liverpool were seeking a second opinion on his medical.
On the back of that advice they decided not to proceed with the deal.
Reports indicate that the deal will not be resurrected and manager Brendan Rodgers will look to other striking targets.
