Liverpool player ratings on FIFA 17: Are they fair?

Phillipe Coutinho 85

Coutinho is our best ranked player and it’s probably fair to say most supporters will say Coutinho is our best player. He was 84 last season and FIFA continue to bump up his ratings as he deserves.

Fairness: 9/10

Daniel Sturridge 84

FIFA have taken the chance to upgrade Sturridge to a 84 after being 83 on the previous game, what he has done to warrant this upgrade as he was mostly injured last season I’m not sure but no doubt about it Sturridge is one of the best strikers in the Premier League when he is fit.

Fairness 7/10

Karius 82

We haven’t seen much of Karius in a Liverpool shirt so a 82 could maybe be a bit high for a goalkeeper that may not be our starting goalkeeper just yet. He has been upped by two from FIFA 16 but he was the second best goalkeeper in the Bundesliga last season so maybe it is deserved.

Karius has a strong rating and has a way better card than Mignolet

Fairness 5/10

Dejan Lovren 82

Lovren has had a huge upgrade from his average 79 rating on last year’s FIFA, Lovren is our starting centre back and he had a very good season last season.

Fairness 8/10

Lovren has got a huge upgrade, maybe this goal has something to do with it?

Joel Matip 82

Matip has been one of the most solid performers in the German League for a number of years so deserves a high rating and he has slotted into our side seamlessly so far. Quicker than you think and dominant in the air his FIFA rating is very good.

Fairness: 8/10

Adam Lallana 82

Lallana has got a big upgrade on this FIFA and it took me by surprise really as yes it is deserved but Firmino is a better player and is rated the same as Lallana. But Lallana deserves a upgrade after his recent form under Klopp and he is becoming one of the first names on the team sheet every week.

Fairness: 8/10

Roberto Firmino 82

Firmino, for me, is not that far behind Coutinho as our best player and for me he is more important to the side than what Sturridge is. His rating of 82 is way too low for someone who was our top scorer in the Premier League last season in his debut season and he should go on to have a great season for this coming one. Should be 84 rated in my view.

Fairness: 3/10

Firmino should be a lot higher than this after finishing as our top scorer last season

Mamadou Sakho 82

Sakho was great at the end of last season before he was suspended and put in some amazing defensive performances. His rating is fair but he won’t feature to much this season after falling down the pecking order but he has great talent and is a good player.

Fairness: 7/10

Wijnaldum 81

Wijnaldum was 80 on the last FIFA and probably deserves a slight upgrade to his stats after earning himself a big move.

Fairness: 7/10

Milner 81

Milner had a great season last season but he is a experienced player and he didn’t show anything new last season so his rating rightly stays the same. Will be a midfielder on the game but he is adapting well to his new found position in the team.

Fairness: 8/10

Clyne 81

Fifa don’t normally give full backs a high rating, just look at Bellerins rating or Walkers, who are both lower than Clyne. But Clyne is one of our most solid performers and deserves a slight rating increase for me just to 82. Settled in extremely quickly at Liverpool and is such an important performer.

Fairness: 6/10

Lucas 80

Lucas should not be rated on a par with Henderson and Can now as he simply isn’t as good as these players now, he should be downgraded as he doesn’t get a awful lot of game time now and his rating doesn’t justify this.

Fairness: 4/10

Henderson 80

Henderson is only recently beginning to pick his form back up again after a injury riddled season last season but has got a upgrade regardless from last year’s 79 rating. If he can perform to a good level this season he will be upgraded next season but overall his rating is fair.

Fairness: 8/10

Emre Can 80

Can was probably our second best player last season but he was rated just 75 on last year’s FIFA and he has got a huge upgrade of five on this new game. He’s a better player than Lucas but overall 80 is a strong enough upgrade for the German.

Fairness 8/10

Mane 79

This one is criminal, he has become such a huge player in our squad already and is no doubt one of our better players already. He hasn’t been at us for long but even his Southampton form last season deserved a upgrade, he should be a 82 rating for me as he has been our best player so far this season.

Fairness: 2/10

Klaven 78

Klaven is a solid defender but not great and this rating represents a defender that is aging. He won’t be a starting centre back for us as he will be a back up. This rating represents it perfectly in the sense that he won’t be a starter for us.

Fairness 8/10

Origi 78

Origi has been upgraded from his 76 rating and deservedly show. This rating represents the fact that he is a youngster and still needs to improve but he can also play in the first team.

Fairness: 9/10

Mignolet 78

The worst goalkeeper out of the top sides and this is a fair assessment by FIFA, he made a lot of errors last season but he still isn’t as bad as people make him out to be. Had a poor season last year and this is represented by his rating staying the same as last year.

Fairness: 8/10

Alberto Moreno 77

Moreno has a lot about him but his constant errors and lapses of concentration have cost us in vital games and moments, this is summed up by his downgraded FIFA card. He was 79 on the last game and this deserves to go down as his performances have dipped massively.

Fairness: 9/10

Danny Ings 77

Ings has been upgraded on this season’s FIFA despite bing injured for the majority of last season with a ACL, but he did start the season well under Rodgers last season and he should have been higher than 75 anyway after earning a big move. How much he will play this season I’m not sure but he is a very talented player.

Fairness: 8/10

Overall Liverpool players are rated quite generously but the exceptions are Mane and Firmino who are just criminally underrated on this latest iteration of the franchise FIFA. Some of the ratings have surprised me at some of the upgrades they have been given and overall Liverpool will be a strong team to play as on FIFA 17.
